Liminal Nocturnes comes from a singular piano piece written in 2021 using preparations such as gaff tape on the strings in the upper register and 2 ebows placed in the middle register to create a warm drone effect through the work. I shelved this piece for a while but eventually had the opportunity to record it at Electrical Audio in Chicago on their tape machine with audio engineer Gregoire Yeche. After recording it, we created 2 more tracks of the same piece: one where it was recorded slowed down 2x, and then one more recorded in reverse. The result is 3 unique ways of listening to this slow, ambient, and surreal work.
